Glow’s relationship education programme, that teaches children and young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships, will be available for free for pupils in Derby City schools. 

Relationships without Fear is our evidence-based, early intervention six-week programme that is currently delivered in schools across Staffordshire and Cheshire.

According to research by SafeLives, one in five children will experience domestic abuse at home.

We developed Relationships without Fear in 2005 to educate young people about healthy and unhealthy relationships through hourly sessions in schools.

Now, thanks to funding from the Home Office, via the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner, a limited number of programmes are available for schools in Derby City, free of charge.

Relationships without Fear is delivered by a trained, specialist member of staff. It’s also adapted to make it appropriate and accessible for all children and young people, from primary school to college age.

Following sessions, we provide schools with a full report and evaluation, developed by Keele University, which allows them to see the impact the programme has had on pupils.

The next programme starts on November 1, with 2022 programmes beginning on January 3 and February 28.

“The programme has such a huge impact on the children and young people we work with allowing them to understand healthy relationships. It helps spot warning signs and unhealthy behaviours in a safe environment with aftercare provided too.”
