A Glow Lyme Lottery supporter scooped a £250 win on the local game last month.
Mr Bayley matched 4 numbers on Saturday 3 October’s draw to score the prize: “I was a shocked when I got the email to say I had won – but in the current climate every bit of cash is greatly appreciated.
“I signed up the Lyme Lottery because I wanted to help local charities. It’s a no brainier for the price of a cup of coffee you can directly help people where we live and possibly get a pleasant surprise in your inbox telling you that you’ve won a nice amount of money and feel good about helping the local community.”
The Lyme Lottery gives back 60p to local causes for every £1 ticket bought, or if people chose to select a specific cause, like Mr Bayley, the charity gets 50p, with 10p going to the other good causes.
Since Glow signed up to the Lyme Lottery in 2017, almost £3,000 has been raised from ticket sales for their Newcastle-under-Lyme refuge. The refuge provides accommodation and support for around 15 families at any one time, who have experienced domestic abuse.
Christina Hunter, Fundraising Manager at Glow, said: “This is fantastic news for Mr Bayley on his win.
“The Lyme Lottery is a great way for local people to support very local causes, for Glow, they are helping to keep our services going at the refuge, especially during these times.”
Cllr. Helena Maxfield, Portfolio Holder for Community Safety and Wellbeing at Newcastle Borough Council said: “We are delighted for Mr Bayley and Glow for this win.”
“Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is proud to be able to provide the opportunity for excellent local charities like Glow to raise funds to support their invaluable work in the Borough”
