To kick off the new year, our Recovery Hub team have created a calendar of social and wellbeing activities for survivors of domestic abuse.
We launched our new Recovery Hub last year, thanks to National Lottery funding. It’s a safe space for survivors to rebuild their lives after an abusive relationship.
Now, to expand on their support, the Recovery Hub team have introduced a series of social and wellbeing activities. Sessions include yoga, sound baths and coffee mornings.
They offer a safe space for women to come together, make new connections, increase their confidence and have fun.
Domestic Abuse Practitioner, Emma, has been taking part in the sessions with customers.
She said: “Wellbeing activities like this are such an important part of our work at Glow’s Recovery Hub. They bring survivors together in a fun and relaxed way. This helps them to build social connections and increase their confidence, which are key parts of their recovery journey.”
The most recent activity was a sewing workshop, where several women came together to create a make-up bag.
She continued: “Our sewing workshop was a huge success. It was a relaxing, enjoyable activity that brought everyone together. There was so much support and guidance among the attendees which was lovely to see.
“It gave our customers such a sense of achievement and a real feeling of accomplishment. They were able to create something from scratch that they could take home and keep – it was brilliant.
“We’re already looking forward to the next workshop and the rest of our wellbeing activities.”
