As we enter the new year, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported Glow’s Christmas fundraising campaign.
Our #ThisChristmas appeal raised more than £2,300. This will help our teams to support survivors of domestic abuse living in our safe accommodation services.
Each year nearly two million people in the UK experience some form of domestic abuse. On average, victims at high risk of serious harm or murder live with domestic abuse for two to three years before seeking help.*
When people experiencing abuse are ready to seek support, our safe accommodation services provide a secure and welcoming space free of violence and abuse.
At Glow, we have three refuges in North Staffordshire, as well as community-based safe accommodation. They provide shelter and support for people fleeing abuse, to help them start a new chapter and rebuild their lives.
We support women, men and children because anyone can be affected by domestic abuse.
Head of Domestic Violence and Abuse Services, Lucy Willis, said: “We are thrilled to have raised such an amazing amount of money to support our safe-accommodation services.
“Our refuges and community-based accommodation are really important parts of the work that we do to support people who are fleeing domestic abuse.
“At such a critical time for them, it’s vital that we can offer help as quickly as possible and give people affected by abuse somewhere to turn. This includes a safe place to stay and specialist support.
“We couldn’t continue this important work without our generous supporters, so thank you.”
