Glow has launched a new way for people to donate regularly, with monthly giving.
Last year, the charity supported 3,000 children, adults and families impacted by domestic abuse, 562 of those were children and young people.
Domestic abuse can have a devastating impact, both mentally and physically. Our dedicated team support people on their recovery through emergency accommodation, 1 to 1 and group support, and programmes to help people address and overcome their experiences and live a life free from abuse.
One customer, Abby* came to Glow after leaving an abusive relationship: “When I first walked in I thought I was the only person in the world that this had ever happened to. I’d also been that brainwashed by my partner that I thought his behaviour was normal and I was the one who blew it up in my mind.
“But when I met the others who all had a similar story and we started to learn about the tactics abusers used, I realised it wasn’t my fault and I didn’t deserve to be treated the way he treated me.
“Without Glow I can honestly say I wouldn’t be here today. Either I’d have been killed by my partner or I’d have killed myself.
“Now I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I want to train to be able to support more women who were like me and show them that there is a life after the abuse.”
Creating communities where no one feel vulnerable in their relationships isn’t a quick change. It takes an investment in time and money to change as many lives as possible for the better.
Chrissie Hunter, Fundraising Manager at Glow, said: “That’s why we’ve created this new option for people to give monthly.
“Having a regular income means Glow can better plan for the future, as we know how much money we have coming in. This will help us create a long lasting impact for anyone affected by domestic abuse, now and in the future. Together we really can change lives”
