Staff from Honeycomb Group plan to leap from a plane this Saturday to raise money for domestic abuse charity, Glow.
5 members of staff are tandem skydiving 10,000 feet to help end relationship abuse in Staffordshire. They’ll be joined by 4 other members of the public who are also raising funds for the charity.
Jumpers, Sharon Shaw and Jo Simcox, know first-hand the incredible support Glow provide working for Honeycomb Group, which Glow is a part of.
“It’s good to put ourselves in the shoes of our customers; taking a leap of faith and putting our trust in the hands of someone we don’t know!” says Sharon.
Jo Simcox is Customer Services Manager at Honeycomb Group and is raising money for the two charities that are part of the Group, Glow and Concrete: “I feel really passionate about raising money for Glow as I witness the fantastic work they do every day.
“They really do change lives especially when people need it the most.”
Jo and Sharon will be joined by colleague Hayley Ferns. Speaking ahead of the jump she said: “I’m feeling OK about it at the moment, but I’m trying not to think too much about it. I think I’m going to feel more nervous the day before.
“I really believe in what we do and I’m passionate about how we support people out there affected by domestic abuse. That’s why I’ve decided to do this.”
Fundraising Manager Chrissie Hunter is looking forward to the event; “This is once in a life time experience, and takes a true adventurer at heart to jump out of a plane.
“This is a true reflection of the amazing team we have here, how dedicated we all are not only to the provision of the services, but to ensuring their sustainability, making money to ensure we can continue to help these incredible people.
“I am privileged to work as part of such a wonderful team, and can’t wait to see what crazy things we come up with to do next!”
The tandem skydive is happening on Saturday 29 February at Tilstock in Shropshire, with 11 people in taking part. You can donate online here justgiving.com/findtheglow
