When Nia arrived at refuge in December 2020 with son Theo, she was fleeing an abusive relationship.
Nia describes last Christmas as ‘a very distressing time,’ but thanks to refuge staff it turned into something much more positive.
Nia and son Theo felt safe and welcomed by our refuge staff in Staffordshire. They enjoyed a Christmas dinner and even had a visit from Santa!
Now they are looking forward to a happy festive period #ThisChristmas.
Nia said: “Arriving at refuge last Christmas was a very distressing time for me.
“However, looking back, I actually think that it turned into one of my best Christmases, thanks to the staff at refuge.
“I finally felt safe and free, which I hadn’t felt for many years.”
Thanks to refuge staff and Glow supporters, Nia and Theo were able to enjoy a Christmas dinner and spend time with other families.
Nia said: “Having Santa come to visit, and give out presents, was just such an amazing relief. Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces was fantastic – I couldn’t have asked for anymore from the staff.
“They helped me come out of a very dark place and I will be forever grateful.
“Thanks to the refuge I’m now the happiest I’ve been in a very long time.”
We were able to support Nia and Theo as they moved on to a safer and happier future. By supporting our #ThisChristmas campaign you can support other families like them.
