Staffs Housing Housing Officer Alex is taking on a 50km challenge to raise money for Glow!

This week at Glow we’re saying a huge thank you to Alex, a Housing Officer at Staffs Housing, one of our fellow Honeycomb Group family members!

Next month Alex will be taking on an incredible challenge to raise money for our services here at Glow.

Alex often works with Glow customers within her Housing Officer role, so she sees first hand the impact that our services have on survivors of domestic abuse.

Staffs Housing and Glow work together to provide modern, comfortable homes for people who have faced abuse. It helps them and their families start a new chapter and make a fresh start, free from abuse.

Alex sees this work first hand, so she wanted to do something to raise money, to help us support even more people.

Her challenge will be the Peak District Ultra Challenge on 9 July. It’s a 50km walk which involves a 1,400m climb, that starts and ends in Bakewell.

We caught up with Alex to find out why she wanted to fundraise for us.

Alex said: “Working for Staffs Housing, I get to see the amazing work that Glow does for people experiencing domestic abuse.

“As a Housing Officer, I often work with people that are at risk of, are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence. I see how people are affected by it and the impact that it can have. I also see how lifechanging Glow’s support is when people don’t know where to turn or feel alone.

“I wanted to support Glow to give something back to the Group and help them continue to do what they do.”

The walk will be a challenge due to the hilly nature of the Peak District, but Alex is excited.

She said: “I’m feeling nervous but I love to challenge myself like this so I’m also really excited. I’m quite fit and active so hopefully I’ll be OK!

“I’d really appreciate any donations that people can spare to support Glow. It would mean so much to me!”

You can support Alex’s fundraising on JustGiving.
