Emergency appeal launched to raise money for domestic abuse services

An appeal to raise emergency funds for Glow’s vital domestic abuse services has been launched today.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have supported over 450 people who have suffered or witnessed some form of domestic abuse or have been responsible for that abuse.

With hundreds of families in Staffordshire alone trapped in their homes with their abusers, properly funded support for victims of domestic abuse is more important than ever before.

Our three refuges are still open helping people recover and live a life free from abuse, our usual group meetings with survivors in recovery are now taking place online and over the phone and we’re working hard to maintain contact with families at risk of, or experiencing abuse in their own home to make sure they’re as safe as possible during this time.

Nic Lowry, Head of Business Development and Fundraising, said: “Raising money to help keep vital services and support available to victims of domestic abuse couldn’t be more crucial than it is at this time.

“We have fantastic and committed supporters who help us in delivering our mission to end domestic abuse and we couldn’t do it without them. We would love their continued support and need it more than ever.”

You can donate to our emergency appeal online via JustGiving or you can send a cheque made out to ‘Glow’ to Fundraising, 308 London Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 5AB.

You can also help by donating any tinned goods and other non-perishable foods, sanitary items, toilet rolls, toothpastes and soaps. At this time, we cannot accept any toys, clothing or other items. Our main office on London Road and our refuges are now closed to the public. Contact our Fundraising Team on 07870 389292 or email fundraising@localhost to organise a drop off or pick up.
