Today we launch our 2019 Christmas appeal, which is focused on raising vital funds for our refuges and shining a light on the important work they do.
Refuges provide a safe place to families escaping violence and abuse at home. On average 2 women a week in the UK are murdered by a partner or ex-partner and 1 in 7 children have witnessed some form of domestic abuse.
Many victims escape this abuse at a moment’s notice, leaving behind most of their belongings, scared for their and their children’s lives.
In North Staffordshire, 38 families will spend their Christmas in one of Glow’s three refuges that offer the vital support needed to help people start to rebuild their lives free from abuse.
Throughout the festive period, we will be sharing stories from our customers and staff about their experiences of our refuges.
