At Glow, our mission has always been clear — to support and empower those experiencing domestic abuse. For many, our three refuges provide an essential sanctuary, a place of safety and care during difficult times. But we know that true healing and rebuilding begins when people can move forward, in a home that feels truly their own.
That’s why we’re excited to announce a new chapter in our commitment to helping survivors create fresh starts: the creation of five secure, modern homes in Longton designed specifically as safe move-on accommodation.
Why move-on homes matter
Leaving a refuge can be both hopeful and daunting. While refuges provide vital emergency shelter, survivors need secure, stable, and comfortable environments where they can rebuild their lives independently — free from fear, and surrounded by support. Our new move-on homes bridge that gap, offering a safe haven where people can feel settled and regain their confidence.
Designed with care, managed with compassion
Donna, our dedicated Service Manager, will oversee the new homes. With deep experience and understanding of the challenges survivors face, Donna knows that these spaces must be more than just buildings — they need to be welcoming, safe, and supportive environments.
“We’re creating homes that offer security, peace of mind, and comfort,” says Donna. “These homes will help our customers feel safe and supported as they take the next steps towards independence.”
Partnerships make It possible
Mike Goodwin, Landlord Liaison Operations Manager, has been instrumental in securing these new homes for our customers. By working closely with local landlords and developers, Mike has opened up new opportunities for safe and supportive housing across the group.
Mike shares, “It’s so vital to work with landlords and developers across our city who don’t just want to make a quick buck, but who want to make a difference and give back — supporting people wanting to live independently again after experiencing domestic abuse.”
Homes you can truly settle into
Located in the heart of Longton, each of the five homes will feature modern kitchens, sleek bathrooms, and inviting living areas — thoughtfully designed to create a calming, relaxing atmosphere. Equipped with the latest mod-cons, these homes aren’t just practical; they’re places where our customers can truly feel at home.
Looking ahead
This investment marks an important milestone for Glow — a tangible way we’re expanding our support beyond refuge walls. It reflects our belief that everyone deserves a chance to start fresh in a space they can call their own.
We’re proud to be creating these new homes and look forward to seeing our customers flourish in these safe, supportive environments.
